Who do you say that I am?

“I could not make myself believe in a loud-voiced, bearded God on his throne, but I was moved to tears by the compost pile”.
– Barbara Kingsolver

A friend of mine just posted this as his status on Facebook, and it made me wonder – how is it that Christians are still not getting their message across that God does not look as portrayed by Monty Python?

I cannot argue with Kingsolver on this point, because I myself worship God the composter – the one who takes the rotten, the stinky, and the apparently useless and turns them into so much fertilizer that anything they touch can grow faster, stronger, and healthier through what we once reckoned to be trash.
